Not goretex, which is a plus for me as if it isn't there, it can't wear through and fail and leave you unexpectedly with huge disappointment and wet feet.įor transcontinental travel, I take along some equally old Rukka over boots - made in quality PVC, have lasted very well, go on very easily in seconds. Mine have simple belt holes onto pegs for the foot and velcro at the top. The sole and leather is still great, the sort of plastic facing over the inside of the tongue perished some time ago. Bought second hand at least 30 years ago. ![]() So a mechanical hinge that limits motion is my first priority. My caveat is that I am the poster boy for ruined ankles. If I had to split the difference between the Adventure and Crossfire with a single boot it would be the X-3. So the Crossfires are keepers - especially at X-3 or Adventure pricing with my Adventures available as a less intense alternative. And the Crossfire does offer more protection and a better hinge setup. But I don't have any time on the Crossfires yet. I'm not sure I didn't like Chargers better (now X-3) out of the box than the Crossfire. But to upgrade those this year I wanted to maximize offroad protection. No big deal with my battered old O'Neal MX boots available. Especially since I still like old school ITB pants. But found they aren't great for hardcore offroad. After over a year in those Adventures, I love them for easier dual sport and street. I liked the Charger well enough when I tried them a year or so ago.
